Dear Reader,

It was late Sunday night. The mall was nearly empty by then, and I was sitting alone in my car in the basement parking, waiting for my wife to finish shopping.

Maybe it was the silence.

But sitting there in that stillness, I started thinking about what was really happening in my life.

I tried to name one thing… just one thing in my professional life that I was genuinely excited about.

Not proud of. Not "doing well at." Excited about.

I sat there for several minutes. I could not come up even with a single thing.

And it was a strange realisation, because my life on paper was great.

After all, I graduated from IIM-C, spent two decades stepping up the corporate ladder.

I had a title to boast about on LinkedIn, a package most people would trade places just to be in my position.

But sitting in that parking lot, realising this truth was hard on my chest. I sat there numb.

Then it hit me.

My last health report had no major warning signs, but it did show low vitamin D and very high cholesterol levels.

My daughter was entering her teenage years and I hadn't had a real conversation with her in weeks.

My parents were getting older in a city I didn't live in, and our phone calls had become short and infrequent.

I had followed every rule of this world. Studied hard, took the coveted job, cleared my loans, got married, had children, made some money.

And yet, on a Sunday evening in a basement parking lot, I couldn't name one thing I was genuinely excited about.
